CHESTATONES (suspended bells)
About the Chestatone
the Chestatone is a set of tubular bells made from found steel pipes. The different lengths of these pipes have been determined by ratios from the geometric shape the Chesterhedron, a seven sided geometric shape discovered by Frank Chester

the set of Chestatone bells consists of eight available bell lengths. These Length were devised by measuring individual, and combinations of the lengths that make up the seven sided Chesterhedron. When completed this gave eight measurements for which to determine the ratios of the different pipe lengths.
Instead of deciding which one of these length should be omitted to have a representation of the seven sided Chesterhedron with seven steel pipes, at this stage we have decided to use or eight measurements to create a set of eight pipes.
The current version of the set of pipes making up the Chestatone, are made of two different types of pipes. A number of scaffold pipes, and some smaller diameter steel pipes.
A newer version of the Chestatone will be a complete set of only scaffold pipes. This will give the opportunity for the ratios and their interacting overtones to be realised in a more complete way.
